Speaking American Celebrates 10th Anniversary Public Speaking 1-Minute Talk Finals 2008
BOSTON. April 6, '08 - the year 2008 marks the 10th Anniversary of the 1-Minute Talks annual statewide contest organized and hosted by Speaking
American. Over the years, recitations by youngsters (Grades 3-4-5-6) have included such themes as Americans I admire , lyrics , and poems .
This year the focus was on favorite TV shows.

Other Contest Results
Abigail Shovelton, Grade 4, Atlantis Charter School
Lily Archambault, Grade 5, Abby Kelley Charter School
Cash prizes were awarded. A Winnder's Circle Prize, chosen at random, was won by Jose Rivas, Grade 3 Finalist at Calvin Coolidge School, Shrewsbury MA.
In addition, Certificates of Participation were presented.

Other Prizes
Each year Speaking American gives prizes chosen at random to Parents and Teachers for their interest in Public Speaking as an early educational experience.
They are an integral part in the success of our contests. Parents of Ayush Kumar won the Parents' prize. The Teachers' prize went to Sonia Dominges at
Atlantis. Prizes were Trader Joe's standout Blue Surfing shopping bags filled with Trader Joe's products.
Achievement Award
Kendra Whiting, teacher at South Shore Charter School, was given an award view of the fact that South Shore Charter School has the record for the longest
number of years in continuous participation in the Speaking American contests - 10 years. The prize was a photo frame to hold more special memories.

Thanks to Friend of Speaking American for donating prizes including Trader Joe's store in Shrewsbury.
