Public Speaking Contest 2000 Features
Multi-lingual Talks (Grades 3-6)
BOSTON, MA, April 2 - The finals of the annual public speaking contest sponsored by
Speaking American included recitations in French, Russian and English.
Ms. D. Heidi Wolf, Founder of Speaking American, said, "The power and potential of Public
Speaking in the 21 century is enormous and we are delighted to provide an opportunity for
students to speak in English and other languages of the world. Also we look forward to the
continued involvement of charter schools, public and private schools in the Commonwealth to
encourage Public Speaking by offering our annual contest to their students. We see how parents
enjoy seeing their children on stage. We see how teachers enjoy seeing their students on stage.
And what about the contestants? They seem to enjoy the experience too. Well, yes, there are the
prizes too."
