Calendar and Contest Deadlines—

Spring 2010 Public Speaking Contests

NOTE— Application Forms to enter Contests are Available to Download;

Required Theme for Grades 3-4 will be available online by Fall 2009.

Speaking  American -- 

Year 2010

     February 5^th — Postmark deadline for completed Application Forms. Send to Speaking American at the PO Box stated on the Application Form.

          March Week of 1^st- 5^th — Schools to arrange the 1^st Round of recitation and judging at school. The school decides a Winner and Runner-up with ties if warranted. (A maximum of 4 can go on to the next round of competition.)

          March 5^th Deadlines —

I. Deadline for schools to report Winner/Runner-up results to

SPEAKING AMERICAN. (Yes, this can be done by E-mail.

Send to: heidiusaesl@yahoo.com. Include Name of student,

                             Title of talk, Grade level, and Teacher’s name.)

II. Deadline to submit Names for Certificate of Participation

 List—students who actually gave a recitation.

     (Include Grade level and Teacher’s name.)

(Certificates will be sent to the school contest coordinator

 for distribution after the Finals on April 11^th, 2010.)

             April 7^th — Regional Semi-Finals after school if warranted.

            Regional Semi-Finals if warranted. (When more than

six (6) schools from the same District compete, Semi-Finals

are held in that District; otherwise, contestants go directly

                        to the Finals.);

April 11^th — Finals at Boston Public Library,

         Boylston St. entrance, Boston, 2-4 PM).
